Ericsson, Taiwanese Players Rollout First Mobile IP Cam
August 19, 2005
Communication equipment player Ericsson together with Taiwan's AIPTEK, EVE Relite Technology, and Sunplus Technology released the first IP (Internet Protocol) cam in 16 August 2005. With a resolution of one megapixel, the camera can be set up to allow remote viewing on up to 10 mobile phones over a 3G network. No additional software is said to be required on the terminal end.

AIPTEK is responsible for producing the IP cam; Sunplus for driver IC R&D; EVE Relite for helping operators design application software. The device will be targeted at both operators and retail channels; Ericsson states the camera will sell at a price under NT$10,000 (US$314). It will first be marketed in Taiwan before release to the global market.
